Playing in the snow in Switzerland
Greetings from beautiful, amazing, oh-my-lord-I’ve-fallen-into-a-storybook Switzerland!
I’m super happy to report that after 28 years of waiting, I have finally had my first real snow experience. As you can imagine, the excitement factor was about 10 to the power of 1,000,000.
Oh, and not only did I see and touch snow for the first time (which in itself is next-level coolness), I just happened to do it on top of Jungfrau Mountain in the Swiss Alps. *Yeah* I did.
As much as I love being an Australian beach babe, I'm seriously cursing my parents for not introducing me to this white wonder of nature sooner.
Stepping out into the open mountaintop and feeling the chilly Swiss air slap my face was exhilarating; it was all I could do to stop myself from bolting out in a full run and falling over into a pile of snow, ready to make a snow angel.
Surprisingly there was plenty of snow on the ground, considering it was summer, although it was a bit slushy in some places. It was so beautiful to hold; as I formed my first snowball in my red and frozen hands, I couldn't help but giggle uncontrollably.
And yes, I may have licked it to have a taste *insert dork tag here.*
I could have stayed out there on the mountain all day, except I started to realise just how unprepared I was for this outing, seeing as I was wearing only a hoodie, skinny jeans, and Havaianas. So inside I went for the best hot chocolate this side of Zürich.
Yes, you heard me correctly: I wore rubber flip-flops in the snow.
Honestly, the Swiss Alps are so incredibly stunning, and the view from the top of Jungfrau was truly breathtaking. I'm so grateful that this was the scene for my first encounter with snow, and I know that this is just the start of a beautiful relationship between us.
We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful world. Don't be afraid to climb some mountains to see it.
