My Whirlwind Romance
It all began with a swipe to the right.
Then came the best first date in history: a scuba diving lesson. Yes, I am serious. No, I am not dating James Bond. After that came another amazing date. And another. And another. Seventeen days of uninterrupted, entertaining, blissful dates.
Swapping travel stories, cracking cheeky jokes, and discovering more about each other over Sailor Jerrys.
Take-my-breath-away first kisses on the beach under the moonlight.
Drool-worthy dinners and lazy morning breakfasts…all cooked by him.
Days spent playing together above and below the water, sunshine on our faces.
Casual nights at our local hangs with both sets of friends, all mingling, sharing stories, and affectionately chirping each other over craft beers.
Hours and hours of honest conversation, laughter, and kissing till the sun comes up. So much kissing…
And last night, while he tenderly held my face in his hands and gazed into my eyes, the most amazing words tumbled out of my new man’s mouth:
‘This has been a whirlwind romance. And I’ve loved every minute of it…” #ohmygod #idie
And at that moment, I knew this was the romance I’d been waiting for. Hoping for. Wishing with all of my heart for. And man does it look so much better than I ever thought it would.
Dan is everything I’ve been looking for in a guy: Adventurous. Humble. Confident. Smart. Uncompromisingly honest and loyal. Genuine in spirit and generous in action.
Damn, the boy rocks my world...
This is a man who decided to take his passion – scuba diving – and turn it into his career, no matter how impractical or far-fetched the idea may be to others, simply because he chose to make his life’s work matter to him. He wants to live a life filled with significant experiences and travel, not consumed by the limitations of tradition and expectation. He is truly a kindred spirit.
Dan is frighteningly realistic, but not pessimistic. Refreshingly open about his feelings, but fiercely masculine and chivalrous. He goes out of his way to make sure that I know how valued and appreciated I am, and not a day has gone by that he hasn’t expressed his gratitude for having met me. He makes me feel like I am the most special, valuable, and unique girl in the world.
In short, the man has goddamn swept me off my little Havaiana’d feet.
I have truly not experienced this feeling – this euphoria - in so many years, and I am so blessed to feel as lucky, appreciated and whole as I do now. I can only hope that this is the start of something new, special and exciting – something that could change my life forever.
And that, my dear friends, is how a swipe to the right started my whirlwind romance…
